Hello and thank you for your interest in my products!
My name is Melissa Hewitt. I was born and raised in the Willamette Valley of Oregon where I still reside today (what can I say? I love it here!).
From the time I was very little – I have been crafting and creating. A born artist and entrepreneur, I found a love of drawing and coloring (and even selling my works) from a very young age. In kindergarten, I went to school and told the class during show-and-tell with one of my drawings – that I wanted to be an Illustrator. And… that’s exactly what I became. Through all of my years in school, I practiced different art forms and crafted in every spare moment I had. In high school, I focused on graphic design, illustration and photography and at the age of 17, I opened my own business doing exactly what I loved. Before taking my current job as a Lead Graphic Designer for a small family corporation, I worked for years as a Lead Graphic Designer for Hewlett-Packard and have worked with some of the biggest names to design products (such as Martha Stewart, Wolfgang Puck, DreamWorks Animation, Universal Studios and more!)
The Honey Bee name came about because of my Dad. My Daddy (AKA: my Biggest Fan) was a born entrepreneur and artist as well - and passed the passion on to me. I lost my biggest fan in 2012 to cancer.... and the name, "Honey Bee Stamps" is a tribute to my dad. You see, I was his "Little Honey Bee". And so my business name reflects the passion that my dad instilled in me to Chase my Dreams! So - Here I go Daddy. Watch me fly.
A little about me personally – I am married and have a wonderfully sweet; handsome 10-year-old boy named Zack. I definitely passed the “artsy" gene on to him – as most of the time, he can be found elbow-deep in a paper-crafting project right along with me. I am so thankful for the Love and Grace of my Savior, Jesus Christ and am very involved in my church as well. My husband and I are both members of our Church’s worship team and spend quite a bit of time at our Church each week to practice and prepare for Sunday’s worship. (My husband plays Bass guitar and I design the graphics and slideshows for each weeks’ service).
As you can imagine – I lead one busy life! Between family, work, church, and running my home business - Life is beautifully busy... But I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I hope that you enjoy my artwork and designs, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for my little business!
